Welcome to The Dovetail Joint

I hope you are able to join classes with fun learning and professional results. While I have been a teacher since the 1970’s my private WW school has been operating since 2010 and with successful growth now offers 4 classes weekly.

Keeping the art of creating with wood gives me great satisfaction, beginners and experienced wood enthusiasts are welcome.

Ongoing woodwork and fine furniture classes are held throughout the year, in 3 hour once a week, or once a fortnight (providing space is available) over 10 week terms ( similar to school terms).
Class sizes are kept small, 6-8, to ensure students maximize their time with the instructor and help fine tune your woodworking skills.
Individual tuition is available outside regular class times.

Set Projects

A self paced set project with printed instructions is suggested, especially for beginners, as it covers safety on machinery and hand tools, with techniques suitable to skill levels. View the set projects

Design Your Own Project

Students are guided in design development and documentation of individual projects. View the custom projects

Terms and conditions

Missed Classes
In the event that a student has started a block of 5 classes and has to miss a class, I will endeavour to reschedule you into another class during that term. For this to occur, a minimum of one week’s notice is required, otherwise the class is forfeited. If a student fails to show for a class, with no notification, then the class cost is forfeited.

Class Payment
Invoices for 5 week blocks will be issued prior to first class with payment due before attending second class.
